FAQ

Do I need a parking permit for the moving van?
Gerrards Cross is characterized by wide, private drives in areas like The Camp Road or Bulstrode Park, but the town center and its immediate offshoots (like Packhorse Road and Station Road) are heavily regulated.

Permit Zones: If your new property is near the railway station or the shops on Packhorse Road, you will likely encounter Resident Parking Zones or strict "No Waiting" restrictions. Parking Suspensions : If you cannot fit a large removal truck on a near your home or office, you must apply for a Parking Suspension.

What is the best time to schedule my move?
Gerrards Cross is a major "feeder" town for the M40 and M25, and it serves as a primary stop for the Chiltern Railways line into Marylebone. This means traffic patterns are dictated by London commuters and local school traffic.

The Pinch Point: The Packhorse Road (B416) acts as the town’s main artery. During rush hour, traffic backs up significantly from the bridge over the railway line all the way toward the A40.

School Run Chaos: The town is home to several popular schools (such as Thorpe House and Gayhurst). Between 8:15 AM – 9:00 AM and 3:15 PM – 4:15 PM, the side roads become congested with parked cars and high volumes of traffic.

Our Advice: Schedule your van to arrive between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM. This avoids the station dash and the school run, giving your movers a clear run down the A40 or M40 without the stress of gridlock.

Where can I dispose of unwanted items before the move?
Gerrards Cross does not have its own dedicated "tip," so you will need to head to one of the neighboring towns.

Beaconsfield Household Recycling Centre: This is your closest option, located on Lower Pyebush Lane (HP9 2AS), just off the A40. It is a well-organized site but can get incredibly busy on weekends.

Note: As with all Buckinghamshire sites, you must bring a form of ID or a utility bill to prove you live in the county. If you are using a commercial-sized van to drop off your personal clutter, remember to apply for your digital waste permit online before you set off.

What is the maximum number of vans you can provide?
We are able to supply up to four Luton capacity type vans to accommodate your moving needs.

Do you supply packing materials and packaging?

Discover Gerrards Cross

Gerrards Cross is often referred to as the "Brighton of Bucks," a nod to its 19th-century reputation as a prestigious rural retreat. Today, it stands as one of the most affluent and sought-after postcodes in the UK. While its neighbor, Chalfont St Peter, feels like a sprawling, historic village, Gerrards Cross has the polished, high-end feel of a "Garden Suburb." It is a place where wide, tree-lined avenues meet a cosmopolitan high street, offering a lifestyle of "Mini-Hollywood" glamour.

The town is defined by its expansive Commons—East and West—which act as the green lungs of the community. Unlike many commuter towns that feel like concrete hubs, Gerrards Cross has maintained a spacious, airy atmosphere since the railway transformed it from a collection of farmsteads into a premier residential destination in 1906.

Moving to Gerrards Cross

Living here is about more than just a commute; it’s about a specific standard of living that prioritizes privacy, architectural beauty, and high-end convenience.

1. Identify Your Neighborhood
The town is roughly divided by the A40 and the railway line, creating distinct residential pockets:

  • The Golden Triangle (Camp Road & Dukes Avenue): This is the pinnacle of Gerrards Cross real estate. Known for massive, gated Edwardian and Arts and Crafts-style mansions, these roads offer ultimate privacy. Many properties sit on acre-plus plots and are favored by celebrities and high-net-worth professionals.

  • The Common Side: Roads like Windsor Road and those bordering East and West Common offer a "best of both worlds" scenario. You have direct access to the duck pond and vast green spaces, with the character-filled pubs and the iconic St James' Church—famed for its unique Byzantine-style dome—right on your doorstep.

  • The North-West Pocket (Orchehill Avenue & Latchmoor): Stretching toward Chalfont St Peter, this area features a mix of grand Victorian villas and high-end modern developments. Roads like Latchmoor Way are prestigious yet feel slightly more "connected" to the town's social pulse and local schools.
  •
2. The Lifestyle Blueprint
Gerrards Cross offers a "curated" village experience where every amenity is tailored to a sophisticated palate.

  • Elite Education: The town is a magnet for families because of its access to the Buckinghamshire Grammar School system. It is also home to top-tier independent schools like Thorpe House (for boys) and St Mary’s (for girls), providing a complete educational pathway within the town limits.

  • A "London" High Street: Packhorse Road is the town's central artery. It feels more like a chic London neighborhood than a rural village, featuring a Waitrose, an M&S Foodhall, and a plethora of high-end boutiques. The Everyman Cinema serves as a focal point for evening entertainment, offering a luxury movie-going experience.

  • Commuter Gold: The railway station is the town’s heartbeat. With direct trains to London Marylebone taking as little as 20–25 minutes, it remains one of the fastest and most reliable links into the capital, making "working in the city and sleeping in the woods" a practical reality.

  • Green Recreation: Beyond the Commons, the area is surrounded by premier leisure facilities. The Gerrards Cross Golf Club is a local institution, and the nearby Bulstrode Park offers a window into the area's Iron Age history and sprawling parkland walks.
  •
Local Tip: For a true taste of local life, visit The Journeyman or The Apple Tree. While the High Street is bustling by day, the community vibe truly comes alive in these venues on a Friday evening. Don't miss the Christmas Festival, where the town transforms into a festive wonderland that feels genuinely exclusive yet welcoming.
