Five star service. Five star service. The boys worked so hard and nothing was too much trouble. We moved last week on the 7th of Feb 2025. They didn't stop for one minute. They even dug up some plants for me that I couldn't do myself. Well done Pawel you have a great team. Thankyou again. Highly recommended. Lady Patricia Aisthorpe. Xxx

FAQ

Do I need a parking permit for the moving van?
Generally, no. Unlike Aylesbury’s tight town centre, Hanslope does not have widespread Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) or strict Resident Parking Schemes. Most residential areas, both historic (around the High Street and Gold Street) and newer developments, feature unrestricted on-street parking or private driveways.

The Catch: While you don't need a permit, Hanslope’s older core consists of narrow village lanes. If your new home is near St. James the Evangelist Church, Gold Street, or Long Street, parking a large removal van can block the road entirely.

What to do: Instead of a permit, you may need to apply to your Council for a Parking Bay Suspension if your vehicle will cause an obstruction, or simply chat with your new neighbors ahead of time to ensure they leave enough curbside space clear.

What is the best time to schedule my move?
Hanslope doesn't suffer from urban ring-road gridlock, but it has its own unique rural bottlenecks.
The Pinch Point: The primary traffic issue in Hanslope is the "school run" around Hanslope Primary School (on Long Street). Between 8:15 AM – 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM – 3:45 PM, the narrow roads near the school become clogged with parked cars and delivery vehicles.

Additionally, the village is a thoroughfare for commuters heading toward the M1 (Junction 14) or other towns via the B526.
Our Advice: Aim for a 9:30 AM arrival. This allows the morning school traffic to clear completely, gives you a clear run down the rural lanes, and avoids the early morning agricultural vehicles that frequently use the surrounding country roads.

What is the maximum number of vans you can provide?

Yes, we can arrange disposal services for any unwanted items identified during your move, upon request. We have added this service as we find whilst moving customers have many unwanted items usually from there loft, garage or shed or maybe due to downsizing.

Hanslope Village

Hanslope offers a quiet retreat into the Buckinghamshire countryside, where medieval history blends naturally with modern village life. Surrounded by rolling fields, it has managed to keep a distinct, tight-knit community feel that sets it apart from the more sterile, master-planned developments nearby.

The local skyline is dominated by the Church of St. James the Great, featuring the tallest spire in the county at 186 feet—a landmark visible from over 20 miles away. While the village was once a busy hub for traditional lace-making, it is now famous for Hanslope Park, a high-security government site that brings a steady, understated professional presence to the area. Between its stone cottages, a lively village square, and trails leading straight into Salcey Forest, it strikes a great balance between rural charm and practical convenience.

Moving to Hanslope

Choosing this village means embracing a slower pace of life where the daily routine is often a walk across a village green. It is favored by those who want to disconnect from urban noise without losing access to essential services and transport hubs.

Pick Your "Side" of the Village
The housing stock is a blend of an atmospheric historic core and carefully integrated newer developments.
  • The Historic Core (High Street & Gold Street): This is where you’ll find iconic stone and thatched cottages. Living here puts you within a short stroll of local pubs and the post office. Many of these properties date back to the 17th and 18th centuries, offering character features like exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces.

  • The Northern Edge (Castlethorpe Road & Long Street): This area features a mix of mid-century bungalows and more substantial detached family homes. It is popular for its proximity to the local primary school and offers modern layouts while providing uninterrupted views of the surrounding farmland.

  • Newer Developments (The Wheatfields & Pierrepoint Way): To accommodate growing popularity, high-quality estates have emerged. These are designed with traditional aesthetics in mind—often featuring brick-paved roads and green buffers—providing energy-efficient living for families needing more space and modern amenities.

Navigating Village Life
Life here revolves around local self-sufficiency and an "active outdoors" culture.
  • The "Outstanding" School Draw: One of the biggest magnets is the local primary school, which has a long-standing reputation for excellence. For secondary education, the area sits within reach of high-performing academies and grammar school testing options.

  • Commuting with Ease: While the village feels remote, it is strategically located near major rail heads. Direct train links to the capital are accessible within a 10-minute drive, reaching the city in roughly 45 minutes. For drivers, major motorways and dual carriageways are minutes away, making it a viable base for regional professionals.

  • Active Leisure: Residents here don't just look at the countryside; they live in it. Nearby ancient woodland offers a famous tree-top way and miles of cycling and walking trails. The village also maintains a strong sporting tradition, with active cricket and football clubs that serve as social hubs.

  • Local Essentials: You don't always need to leave the village for the basics. It is well-served by a Post Office, a traditional butcher, and a general store. There is a palpable sense of community, anchored by annual events like church open days and village fetes.

Local Tip: The village is famous for its "hidden" network of public footpaths. Many residents find that the best way to integrate into the community is to join the local walking groups, which often conclude their routes at one of the historic inns.
