Do I need to arrange parking permits or suspensions for a move in Thrapston?
​While most residential areas in Thrapston—like the newer developments off Market Road or Huntingdon Road—offer ample driveway space, the town center can be tighter. If you are moving to or from the High Street, Chancery Lane, or the narrower parts of Oundle Road, space is at a premium.​ 

Thrapston is managed by North Northamptonshire Council. Much of Thrapston does not have the same level of strict "Permit Holder Only" zones. However, the town center and the High Street are very narrow with limited on-street parking.

Residential Streets: If you are moving to a newer development like The Thrapston Nene Valley or areas off Huntingdon Road, you likely won't need a formal permit.

The Town Center: If your property is on or near the High Street or Chancery Lane, parking is extremely restricted. You won't find a "moving permit," but you may need a Parking Waiver/Dispensation if the van needs to sit on yellow lines or in a restricted bay to load/unload.

What is the best time to schedule my move?
While Thrapston doesn't suffer from "gridlock" in the traditional sense, its position at the junction of the A14 and A45 makes it a magnet for heavy goods vehicle (HGV) traffic.

The Pinch Point: The Bridge Street area and the mini-roundabout connecting to the A14 (Junction 13) can get backed up with lorries during peak hours. Avoid the 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM window when local commuters are heading toward other towns.

Our Advice: Aim for a 9:30 AM or 10:00 AM start. This bypasses the early morning trade traffic and gives you a clear run before the lunchtime rush at the local shops. Avoid finishing or arriving between 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM, as the primary school traffic on High Street can make maneuvering a large van through the narrow center difficult.
